Doha: Tulukoota annual
day held on may 19, 2017 at Delhi public school
auditorium was an evening which touched its members
heart and soul. Tulukoota is one organization which cuts across all
difference and brings together people with just the language as a common
string.
Chief
guest of the evening was H.E P. Kumaran Indian Ambassador to Qatar, Guests Of
Honor Dr.H.S.Ballal and First Lady President of ICC Milan Arun.Tiny tots and
ladies of Tulu Koota Qatar welcomed the gathering with a wonderful dance. Vice
president Kiran Anand made the opening remark and intruduced the Guest anchor
Nithesh Shetty Yekkar . President Ravi Shetty welcomed the gathering and
thanked all those who have worked hard behind the event.
Chief
Guest HE Shri P.Kumaran released the sub edition of Annual day souvenire
"Nirel" .Tulukoota Technical Coordinator Mr.Nithesh Doddanagudde was
the Chief Editor of the same, graphic design was done by Ex Qatar Multitalented
Sanjay Chapolkar from Bangalore.Chief guest of the evening H.E P. Kumaran
Indian Ambassador to Qatar and Guest of Honor Dr.R.Seetharaman were presented
with mementos as a token of commemoration.
The
program was a success in its essence with bringing humbleness love and
affection in the air for the receivers of prestigious
Tulunadu bolpu awards which is being given to the social
workers from the Tulunadu who have selflessly worked towards the
less fortunate community and empowering them. Tulunaada Bolpu
Awardees Hajjabba Harekala, Sunil D'souza and Sri Krishna Kumar Punja .
Harekala Hajabba: known as AKSHARA SANTA
(Saint of Letters) is an orange vendor in the city of Mangalore, Karnataka and a well-known social
reformer. Despite being uneducated, Hajabba fought tirelessly to build a
government school in his native Newpadpu in Harekala by pooling money he earned
and by seeking donors help. The British Broadcasting Corporation published an
article on him with the title "Unlettered fruit-seller's Indian Education
Dream" in November, 2012. He is the winner of 'Real Heroes' award by CNN IBN and Reliance
Foundation.
Krishna Kumar Punja: Krishna Kumar Punja has been
in the forefront of social service activities and social awareness campaigns
for years. From organizing blood donation, health awareness camps to free
medical check-ups, eye-testing camps, he has contributed in abundance towards
the social wellbeing.
Sunil D’souza:Vishwasada Mane, the name in
itself infuses faith among the homeless and those in need of care and Sunil
D’Souza is the person and inspiration behind this. The care center at
Shankerpura near Udupi has been panacea for many in need of helping hand,
especially for people with unsound mind. The center is popularly known for
providing shelter to many homeless psychiatric patients who wander on the
streets.
A
standing ovation was given by the audience when the Tulunadu Bolpu award was
conferred on the awardees and left them with inspiration.
Children
who were excelled in different field were honoured on the occasion. Neha Shetty
was felicitated for her brilliant performance in Shuttle badminton at GCC
level. Aishwarya Shetty was felicitated for her noble initiative of working for
Teach for India and also for winning May queen 2017.
Musical
extragavanza by the renowened singers from Mangalore Mr.Prakash Mahadevan and
Roopa Prakash was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.
The
evening didnt seem to cease as towards the end the local talent
presented ‘May 22’, a Tulu play directed by Prasanna Shetty, Bailuru of Team
Prashamsa fame was staged on the occasion. Many of the locally well-known
artists gave a memorable performance . Audience appreciated the
professionalism in acting and the heart touching message, the rib tickling
comedy and the emotional feelings gave a special meaning to the play.
Whole
event was well anchored by the Guest MC Mr. Nithesh Shetty Yekkar ,while the
public function efficiently handled by Sr.Member Mrs Sowmya Dinesh Shetty.
